After the rice has been soaked, drain the excess water. - Now add samo rice with all other ingredients in the mixer grinder and make a smooth paste by adding required quantity of water in it. - Heat a non-stick pan, sprinkle some water on the pan and wipe it off with a cotton cloth. - Pour a spoonful of the samo dosa batter on pan and spread it in a circular motion to make a thin circle. Apply a little oil or ghee over it and cook on a high flame till the dosa turns brown in color and crisp. - Fold over to make a semi-circle or a roll. Serve hot with peanut curd chutney. For peanut curd chutney: - Add all the ingredients together in the mixer grinder and blend it till well incorporated and smooth. My Tip: - The samo rice dosa batter will be of same consistency as normal dosa batter

It is said to be fasting is to connect more to self and to reconnect to what you believe in. In this era of digital world, staying unplugged from gadgets and internet connection has referred to being on Digital Fasting. Staying disconnected purposely or voluntarily from technology or gadgets for few hours or may be few days refer to digital fasting. Earlier food, shelter and clothing were considered essential for livelihood, but today digital world/gadgets are added to it as basic needs. Digitalisation has made an individual’s life much easier with just one touch movement, it’s smartly lazy. It is said anything in excess leads to some negative effect. Thus by taking into considerations the addictive properties and psychological problems related to its excessive usage, many individuals decided to regain their control over its usage. To stay on digital fasting is one of the ways to digitally detox ourselves. Is digital fasting really fruitful to our health? Research shows that people on digital fasting seems to be more creative, more open in receiving and storing information. Their brain cells seem to be more active. In case of children, digital fasting at early stages showed better stability in their emotional and mental development. They are more balanced and explore things from nature, as a result, learning skills develop at a faster rate. A lot of behavioural change has been observed in terms of frustration, tolerance, anger management and patience. On the other hand, people who stay on digital fasting frequently showed that they have new and better perspective towards their career and personal life. They tend to give more importance in real life rather than reel life. Staying disconnected from technology leads to real life socializing, building mindfulness, enjoying and feeling nature, being empathetic etc. Today digital fasting is very well followed and accepted at workplaces. People experience more freedom, less stress and more mobility. In the era of digitalization and technology, digital fasting is considered to be beneficial for holistic development of an individual. Thus one needs to go on and off on the digital fasting for whatever time period they can firmly follow. This will surely help to mold ourselves into a much better human being rather than becoming robots. The philosophy of fasting calls upon us to know ourselves, to master ourselves, and to discipline ourselves the better to free ourselves. To fast is to identify our dependencies, and free ourselves from them – Tariq Ramadan
